About Meadows Of Morinville | September 13th, 2022

If you’re looking for small-town charm with big-city amenities, then look no further than the town of Morinville! Not only is it conveniently located just minutes north of St. Albert with a population of about 10,000, but it also has the slower pace you’ve been looking for.

What’s there to do in Morinville?

What isn’t there to do is a better question! The town is jam-packed with historical charisma, activity centres and beautiful parks to spend time with your family and friends. Here are some of our favorite things to do in Morinville:

The Morinville Community Cultural Centre

This all-inclusive event space hosts a number of events throughout the year, while still providing locals with an opportunity to rent it for private events and functions. The MCC is no stranger to weddings, banquets and conferences in town!  They’ve also been known to host events and workshops like the “Telus Wise Seniors Workshop” to empower local seniors with digital safety tips and training for babysitters and teens who are starting to stay home alone. The Morinville Community Cultural Centre puts town residents first and their full calendar of events can be found on their website: Morinville Community Cultural Centre.

Town Events

Escape the hustle and bustle of big-city farmer’s markets and weekend activities. Morinville plays host to its own farmer’s markets and holiday-inspired events!

Morinville Farmer’s Market

Every Sunday from May to October, you can enjoy fresh local produce and local artisan creations at the local farmer’s market, located on 104 street by the Rendez-Vous Centre. You’ll be sure to find everything you need to satisfy your local cravings while strolling through the market.

Monthly Events / Festivals

There is no shortage of seasonal events that take place in the town. The Town of Morinville’s “Lite Up the Nite” festival is by far one of the most popular events that many residents and businesses look forward to all year-round. During this annual celebration, the town of Morinville encourages its residents to show their holiday spirit with their Christmas light displays. It typically runs during the last weekend of November and kicks off with a parade featuring Santa and Mrs. Clause. The festival also has a spectacular fireworks display that can be viewed from anywhere in town. Yes, you can watch the fireworks from the comfort of your living room without having to fight downtown traffic!

Fill A House

Meadows of Morinville also partakes in Jandel Homes’ annual Fill A House Campaign and partners with local charities in the Town of Morinville and Sturgeon County to help families in need at Christmas. This annual campaign is put on around the same time as the Town’s Lite Up the Nite festival, where the entire Town of Morinville comes together to ensure all residents have the Christmas they deserve.

The Rendez-Vous Centre

This is a place for residents of Morinville and surrounding areas who are 50+ to come together for social and recreational opportunities. There is no shortage of events happening at The Rendez-Vous Centre! Their club activities include Bridge, floor curling, the Morinville Minstrels Choir, coffee time, movie nights, a literary society, military whist, a quilting club, euchre, pickle ball, knitting club, cribbage, scrapbooking, card bingo, Mahjong and jigsaw puzzles.

A local trail system and Cardiff Park

According to the town, their trail system was scored as the highest outdoor amenity by its residents! The multi-use trail system is paved and spans 5 km long for you to walk, run or cycle down. Just outside of town, you’ll find Cardiff Park where you can kayak, paddleboard or fish in the summer. In the winter, you can skate and ice fish, too.

Family Friendly Activities

Morinville has one of the largest skate parks in the area with 13,000 square feet of concrete, making it a popular spot to hang out in the summer! If skateboarding isn’t for you, there’s also a splash park that many families enjoy cooling down at in the summer.

The Town also has multiple parks, soccer pitches and ball diamonds around town for people to enjoy.

A Beautiful Golf Course

Have a golfer in your family? Cardiff offers a stunning 18-hole golf course and features a clubhouse with a restaurant. Head out for a day on the green and take in the beautiful sights that Sturgeon County has to offer.
